On December 6th, the meeting of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee analyzed and studied the next year’s economic work, highly appraising the new progress made by China's economy in the face of the complex situation at home and abroad since the year 2019. At the same time, the meeting pointed out that the year 2020 would be the year to finish building a moderately prosperous society in all respects, and the final year for the 13th Five-Year Plan. We should transform external pressure into motivation for deepening reform and furthering opening-up, and focus on running China’s own affairs well. The meeting also called for turning the institutional strength of the Party leading the economy work into more effective governance as underlined in the fourth plenary session of the 19th Central Committee of the CPC. The Yangtze River Industrial Economic Research Institute learned the conference’s spirits in the first place, and discussed China’s economic situation and our response in the next year. The main points of view are summarized as follows. Firstly, the overall economic and social development in 2019 is stable. The second is the economic trend and potential risks in 2020, and the third is the countermeasures and suggestions.
